The entrance door of the Imam Hussein (PBUH) Mosque in Mashhad is a magnificent masterpiece of authentic Persian woodwork, meticulously crafted using a blend of Walnut, Sycamore, and Beech woods.
The main frame and core structure are executed in Beech wood, providing exceptional durability and perfect harmony with the door's final finish. In the Gereh-Chini (geometric wood lattice) patterns, Walnut wood is utilized for the darker elements, while Sycamore highlights the lighter sections. This natural color contrast strikingly accentuates the beauty of Islamic geometry.
The star-shaped Gereh-Chini patterns featured in the upper section and door panels are entirely handcrafted. The precise combination of lines, cuts, and wood textures creates an authentic and eye-catching visual appeal. The juxtaposition of this wooden door with the traditional tilework and the classic arch of the mosque's entrance beautifully completes the identity of Islamic architecture, making it a landmark door among religious monuments.
